Planning to live and work remotely in Panama? We help you explore applicable pathways, application documents and next steps.
The pathway
The short-stay remote worker visa is for eligible employees of foreign multinational companies or self-employed remote workers whose work has effects abroad and whose income comes from foreign sources. Official guidance requires at least B/.36,000 per year or the equivalent in foreign currency.
Prepare your application
Follow the National Migration Service checklist for a passport, criminal record, health insurance, overseas work or business and income evidence. A declaration not to accept work or services in Panama is also required; check fees and authentication.
After approval
The visa lasts nine months and may be extended once for up to another nine months. Maintain insurance, check renewal and permitted work, and review tax obligations for your circumstances.
